Essential Information

Which is the best time of the year to do the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Trek?

Yes, like the venture on any other trekking route in Nepal, such as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Everest Base Camp Trek, and Langtang Valley Trek, as well as a combined trip to the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley. Spring and autumn are taken as the best times of the year to head for the trek to the trans-Himalayan region. These seasons generally in Nepal feature stable Himalayan weather conditions, moderate temperatures, and clear skies.

In addition, since most of the Himalayan odyssey goes through the trans-Himalayan region in the rain shadow area, the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Trek is often pleasing in the summer/monsoon season as well. In winter, it can get utterly cold at high altitude; hence, it is not recommended, but if packed and prepared well, you can enjoy the unique aura of the Manaslu Trekking Region.

Can you find private rooms en route to the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley?

Yes, if informed in advance, Skybound Adventure can arrange private rooms with attached bathrooms in low-altitude regions and larger village areas, but as the altitude increases and you are in small villages, it often gets limited to basic rooms on a shared basis between trekkers. These rooms in general are offered by the local teahouses, guest houses, and lodges, which also provide you with daily meals and other amenities like wifi, charging devices, and hot showers, usually at some additional cost.

What are the permits that you need for the trek to the Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley?

For the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Hike specifically, you will need three permits: the TIMs (Trekkers Information Management System) card, the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP), and the special restricted area permit (RAP). These permits are obtainable through the licensed trekking agencies, operators, and organizers like Skybound Adventure, issued by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Trekking Agency Association of Nepal (TAAN).

In addition to entering the restricted areas of Nepal, such as Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit, and obtaining the respective RAP, you will need to be part of a trek with at least two members. At Skybound Adventure, we have fixedly departing groups in spring and autumn, including in the years 2025 and 2026. Join us now on this epic Himalayan adventure and explore one of the hidden gems of Nepal, the secluded Manaslu Region, an epitome of unspoiled natural and cultural beauty.

How difficult is the trekking to the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek combined with the Tsum Valley Hike is, overall, taken as a moderate to challenging Himalayan voyage. Spanning at least three weeks or more, the trekking trail includes making way through diverse terrains, some days also including steep ascents, descents, and landslide-prone areas. Among them, crossing Larkya La Pass (5,160m) is the most challenging section.

Therefore, Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Hiking is more suitable for experienced trekkers and climbers. Testing your self-reliance, if prepared well for limited accommodation, medical facilities, and remoteness, it can be a good option for beginners as well, but a good level of physical fitness is a must for unparalleled peace and cultural connection.

Where to hire guides and porters for the trek to the Manaslu Circuit Tsum Valley Trip?
